“Preparing Haiti’s tomorrow, today.”
UU began working in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake with a variety of local and international organizations and businesses including Partners In Health, Industrial Revolution II and, most recently, Summits. Summits represents a network of 42 schools, previously managed by Partners In Health, that have been reorganized by Paul English and Mike Chambers as a teacher-focused model school district. Inspired by Partners In Health’s incredibly successful work in Haiti, Summits’ eventual aim is transferring control of the district to the local government. English, founder of Kayak Travel and former Director of Partners In Health, is uniquely position to oversee the development of community-based structures and funding mechanisms to make the Summit schools a longterm success.
