Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice

Uncommon Union is honored to work with The Wagner Foundation in their support of Equal Justice Initiative’s (EJI) Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice, in Montgomery AL, which confront racial injustices head on and create a space for investigation and reflection.

The museum and memorial showcase perspectives rarely represented at large scale and in great detail. These prominent spaces challenge us to think about each other and how we remember history. The United States has done little to acknowledge the legacy of slavery, lynching, and racial segregation. As a result, people of color are disproportionately marginalized, disadvantaged and mistreated.

The Wagner Foundation is unique in its vision which emphasizes the connection between social justice, education, and cultural transformation. We believe these two organizations can have a positive, lasting effect on society due to the integrity and quality of their message. In addition to the memorial, Uncommon Union looks forward to the growth of the museum and its emergence as an important curatorial voice.
