Maiden Nation is a marketplace where items are designed with both beauty and social consciousness in mind. Developed as a venture of our company, Maiden Nation was originally conceived by our co-founder.
After assembling a visionary partnership behind the concept, we built a powerful social shopping site with a host of community features. The Maiden Nation website launched in conjunction with Glamour’s Woman of the Year Award, in cooperation with the remarkable designer, Chan Luu, the United Nation’s Ethical Fashion Initiative and Sean Penn’s JPHRO women’s coop. Maiden Nation and its partners, women entrepreneurs around the world, received rave reviews and media attention.
Featuring products by Yoko Ono, Gloria Steinem, Lauren Bush, Rachel Roy, and many others, we architected a highly successful social media campaign. As a private / public partnership with the United Nations Foundation, the first ever products by icons such as Gloria Steinem, and an impressive mix of young designers from around the world, Maiden Nation’s ImagiNation campaign’s content strategy precisely targeted fashion blogs and social networks. As planned, initial seeding grew into broader mainstream coverage in over 100 sites including the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Fast Company, Daily Beast, ABC News, and MSNBC.
